BIOGRAPHY

Born to Gregg and Julie-Anne Hansford in Bardon, Brisbane on the 17th of March, 1982 Ryan Hansford was into everything active and everything with wheels, as were his younger brothers Rhys and Harrison! From the young age of two Ryan closely watched Gregg both on and off the track, and by the age of three he was the proud owner of a go-kart and motorbike. Not long after the bike was thrown away after he rode it full throttle into a fence at a local park, an accident that almost cost Ryan his life. On his parents insistence it was the backyard and go-karts until Ryan turned 12.

After Ryan’s Dad was tragically killed on March 5, 1995, the twelve year old lost confidence in himself and his interest in sport also deteriorated. The next four years were personally tough but was eased with the unwavering support of a close knit, caring and loving family; it was only at the age of 16 that Ryan desire and confidence returned, making the Firsts in a schoolboy Union side.

At 20 Ryan undertook a carpentry apprenticeship and after many years of delaying his dream decided at 27 to pursue his racing dreams. Racing his newly purchased Gemini in 2009 saw him win at Morgan Park, Queensland Raceway and Lakeside as a part of the Queensland Gemini State Championship.

In October the same year Ryan competed in the MINI Challenge Series at the Gold Coast Super GP finishing with a 3rd placing overall. With such an encouraging result Ryan tried his hand in Rod’s Ford Falcon Supercar at the inaugural Telstra 500 at Homebush finishing 10th. Much to Ryan’s surprise the heat in the car and the fitness level required was definitely an eye opener and a commitment to a health and lifestyle change was made. Ryan entered the 2010 Fujitsu V8 Supercar Development Series with new found fitness, and whilst the year was exceptionally challenging the competitive times Ryan had at the Bathurst round kept his desire to continue racing alive.

In order to gain more racing experience and offer more exposure to potential sponsors, the move to the V8 Utes Series in 2011 was made. The securing of Truckline and Rentco as major sponsors not only allows the small team to race a ute at a National level, it also allows the team to be more competitive as a small operation, something that was difficult to achieve in the Fujitsu Series. The first round at the Clipsal 500 in Adelaide saw Ryan qualify 6th and finish 10th overall for the round.

To say that Ryan is excited by his first fully sponsored drive would be an understatement, and having Truckline and Rentco on board to support the team in 2011 is a firm next step in furthering his career in motorsport.
